Video Worth Watching: What If Starbucks Marketed Like the Church? A Parable.

Amazing, funny (in a sad-but-way-too-true kinda way) video from Richard Reising’s beyondrelevance.com.

Not personally a huge fan of Starbucks. Something about mediocre burnt coffee served in a cookie cutter environment that doesn’t do it for me. But, it’s hard to argue with their market share, and the point still proves true. Christians have a long way to go in their way they present package their faith. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the “product”.

    Rofl.

So many of the same thoughts that go through their head go through mine, and I’m “churched.” I understand what it’s about since I’m familiar with the packaging, but it doesn’t change the fact that it often rubs me the wrong way and makes me not want to bring my friends (not because I’m afraid that they may encounter God, but more so because they’ll encounter something else and think it’s “God”).

I wanted to laugh, but it was way to accurate. Makes me embarrassed about my career sometimes. I’m with you Stuart, I can’t stand feeling like I don’t have anything to invite someone to sometimes.
