Good for Goodness Sake: advertising atheism this Christmas

The American Humanist Association is the most recent religious group to enter the arena of mass marketing. Just in time for the holidays, they have released an ad campaign much like the one backed by Dawkins in London, which was highlighted on epicdialogue a few weeks back. In a recent interview with FoxNews, Fred Edwords, a spokesman for the AHA said, “Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion.”
The Athiest Bus
If you are not familiar with Richard Dawkins, you should be. Dawkins is a respected scientist, prolific writer, and avid speaker. Did I mention he is also an ardent atheist? In fact, Dawkins is the self-appointed preeminent evangelist for Atheism. As such, he has enjoyed some success. His October 18, 2006 release, “The God Delusion,” has sold over 1.5 million copies.
For his most recent endeavor, Dawkins has teamed up with the British Humanist Association. Dawkins and the BHA are funding atheist signage to adorn the sides of buses in London. The BHA set out to raise £5,500, which Dawkins would match. Exceeding their expectations, they have raised more than £36,000.
